What Leads to Someone Having Sleep Apnea?Sleep apnea is a condition where breathing stops for a short time while you are sleeping. If you snore loudly and often feel tired after a lengthy night's sleep, you could be having sleep apnea. There are several conditions that can lead to sleep apnea. Excessive weight, nasal congestion, smoking, and other medical conditions may cause sleep apnea.

Excessive Weight


Obesity increases the risk of getting sleep apnea. Due to excessive fat deposits in the upper airway, you will experience sleeping difficulties. Similarly, obesity increases the risk of narrow nasal passages, making breathing difficult. It is important to reduce your weight to limit the symptoms of sleep apnea. By reducing weight, you keep the airways clear; hence, promoting easy breathing. Weight accounts for a significant percentage of sleeping apnea cases. Nasal Congestion
