3 Tips to Keep Your Teeth White as Possible After We Whiten Them
Posted on 12/7/2020 by Office
If you have an in-office whitening, you want to keep your pearly whites pearly white. Therefore, you need to learn what to do to keep your whitened and brightened teeth looking their very best. The following tips will help you do just that.
Watch What You Drink
After you have your teeth professionally whitened, you need to stay away from foods and drinks that can darken or dull them. By following a “white diet,” you can keep your teeth from losing their sparkle and glow. To do this, you first have to learn what you should limit in your diet. While coffee may be hard to cut out, you can still drink it if you add some milk and limit your intake to 2 cups each day. Research shows that the more cups you drink, the more your teeth are likely to stain. You should also veer clear of dark tea, which is worse than coffee to drink. Another high-risk drink is red wine, whose acidity weakens the enamel. This can be said for white wine as well. Fizzy drinks and fruit juices are no-no's too. Actually, plain water is your safest option along with low-fat milk.
Watch What You Eat
Keep away from dark fruits, such as blackberries, although strawberries are perfectly fine. The red berries are the only berries that whiten the teeth naturally. Curry is also a stain-producer. Just look at how it stains pots and pans, and you will understand why you should stay away from the food. Chocolate is yet another food that should not be regularly eaten. Condiments, such as balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, and tomato sauce are known to stain the teeth and cause erosion of the tooth enamel as well.
Don't Use Tobacco
If you smoke or chew tobacco, now is the time to quit, as tobacco can ruin the looks of a newly whitened smile. Instead of smoking or chewing tobacco, switch out your habit for a nicotine patch. Not only will you breathe easier, but you will also be able to keep your teeth whiter, for longer!
